Marshall County TN Election Commission

To vote in Tennessee, a person must be a United States citizen, at least 18 years old, and not have any felony convictions, or if he/she has, his/her full rights of citizenship must have been restored. A person must register at least 30 days before a given election to vote and will be required to furnish identification. Tennessee does not register voters by party; however, when a voter appears to vote during any Primary Election, he must declare if he wishes to vote in the Democratic Primary or the Republican Primary. No party affiliation appears on the voter's registration card.

Jo Ann Henry is the Administrator of Elections for Marshall County. Her deputy is Roberta Cozart. The office is located in Suite 120 in the Hardison Office Annex, 230 College Street, Lewisburg, and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.daily. Early voting is held in the election office twenty days prior to an election for a period of fourteen days. Early voting hours are 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8:00 a.m. until noon on Saturday. On-site voting is provided for those who live in nursing homes or assisted living facilities. Military personnel may vote by mail if they comply with the rules of Standard Form 76. Voting by mail is available for regular voters who qualify in one of the following categories:

  • The voter will be out of town during all voting periods
  • The voter or the voter's spouse is enrolled as a full-time student in a college or university
  • The voter is hospitalized, ill, or disabled
  • The voter is 65 years old or older
  • The voter will be serving on a state or federal jury
  • The voter is the caretaker of a person who is hospitalized, ill, or disabled
  • The voter is a candidate for office in the election
  • The voter serves as an election day official
  • The voter is a member of or employee of the election commission
  • The voter is observing a religious holiday
  • The voter possesses a valid commercial driver's license
  • The voter is an overseas citizen
