Field Administrative Assistant (Full-Time)
Marshall County Board of Public Utilities
This is a very responsible administrative and technical work assisting with the administrative and field operations functions and processes for the Marshall County Board of Public Utilities (MCBPU). Activities associated with the job include assisting with customer billing and customer service; assisting with the budget process; updating and maintaining policies and guidelines; asset maintenance and inventory; administrative duties for all state-required projects; and water education at local schools. Activities associated with the job require strong accounting and data entry skills, good interpersonal, organizational, and decision-making skills, dedicated attention to detail and the ability to maintain detailed files and supporting documentation. Job activities are also subject to state and independent audits.
Necessary Requirements of Work
Graduation from an accredited four-year high school; a minimum of three years’ experience performing office administration duties; strong organizational, interpersonal, and decision-making skills; dedicated attention to detail; or any equivalent combination of education or experience to provide the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:

- Considerable knowledge of MCBPU’s operational policies and procedures including required deposits, service fees, installation procedures, cut-off procedures, overdue payments, etc.
- Considerable knowledge of standard accounting practices and procedures pertaining to utility operations and accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Considerable knowledge of computer database applications including proprietary programs, word processing, database management and spreadsheet applications.
- Considerable knowledge of departmental services and operations including the connection and/or disconnection of services, meter reading processes, average utilization of customers, etc.
Necessary Special Requirements
- Possession of a valid Tennessee Driver’s License, and the ability to be insured at standard vehicle liability rates.
- Completion of criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle report.
