Job Opening: Probation Director (Full Time)

The Marshall County Mayor’s Office is currently accepting applications and resumes for Probation Director.
The Probation Director is responsible for the overall operation of the Probation Department. The Probation Director provides leadership and direction to all employees of the Department in fulfilling the mission of the Department and the orders of the Court. The Probation Director plans and directs the operations of the Department and manages Department resources, including personnel, budget, and equipment.
The Probation Director is an appointment-level position reporting to the Mayor. However, the Probation Director consults with the General Sessions Judge directly regarding all matters of policy involving supervision of offenders or execution of orders of the court. This position is an Exempt position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  
  • Coordinates drug court team meetings.
  • Manages grant funding.
  • Builds linkages through community outreach.
  • Negotiates and monitors treatment and ancillary service contracts.
  • Works in community to develop and monitor job placement, housing, treatment & other identified services.
  • Reviews progress reports and assists in audits and certification monitoring.
  • Applies knowledge of addiction and treatment to suggest responses.
  • Creates and maintains data collection system to monitor client compliance.
  • Develop post program tracking methodologies; responsible for monitoring, collecting and reporting all drug court program-related fees. 
  • Other duties may be assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred and in a behavioral science discipline: Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or similar area.
  • Need previous experience and/or training involving corrections, law enforcement or case management; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
